About olynexus.org

What olynexus.org is

olynexus.org is a free, grant-funded, openly accessible research and education infrastructure for community-level data in the United States. It integrates authoritative federal data into a unified research platform and exposes that platform through reference tools, community profiles, methodology documentation, versioned data snapshots, a participatory discovery environment, and an open research API. All of these are free, without credential or technical barrier, for researchers, educators, journalists, community organizations, and the general public.

Who operates it

olynexus.org is operated by Oly Software, LLC, a commercial entity that also develops compliance and analytics products for hospitals, financial institutions, government agencies, and consulting firms. olynexus.org itself generates no revenue, carries no commercial advertising, and places no content behind paywalls.

The structural relationship

olynexus.org and Oly Software's commercial products share foundational infrastructure — federal data ingestion pipelines, geographic reconciliation logic, semantic ontology, and methodology documentation. This shared foundation is what makes olynexus.org financially sustainable: the engineering investment is amortized across both the free public property and the commercial product line.

What separates them: editorial decisions on olynexus.org are made under the authority of an independent Methodology Editorial Board, not under the authority of Oly Software commercial leadership. A formal editorial firewall — documented in governance policies, auditable by the board, and disclosed to grant funders — prohibits commercial considerations from influencing what is published here.

Users of olynexus.org do not encounter commercial product marketing, sales funnels, or conversion prompts. This page is the only place on the site where the commercial relationship is mentioned, per the platform's structural commitments.

Governance and editorial independence

The Methodology Editorial Board consists of five to nine members drawn from the academic and professional community, operating under a published charter with authority over methodology registry entries, sensitivity classification decisions, and editorial standards. See the Foundational Charter (§6 and §7) for the complete governance structure.

Sustainability

olynexus.org is sustained through grant funding, foundation partnerships, academic collaborations, and cross-subsidy from Oly Software's commercial operations. It does not charge users, host advertising, sell user data, or place functionality behind paywalls. Grant funding acknowledgments are published as awards are received.
